Recipes for Needs
T his chapter deals with needs that everyone has in their lives from time to time. We all have areas of ourselves that we would like to improve or eliminate. These recipes can give you that added boost you need when trying to better yourself on your journey through life.
Balance
Many people try to find a balance in their own personal chaos due to having too many areas of their lives out of sync. These can include career, family, illness, spirituality, money issues, and numerous other concerns. Any little thing can be the tipping factor in how our day goes. We can be thrown into anxiety, fear, anger, stress, and devastation so easily when we are out of balance. These essential oils have shown throughout the ages that they have the ability to help us to achieve that balance that we all so desperately need by increasing focus, calm, and truth within ourselves.
Essential Oils
Cedarwood, clary sage, cypress, eucalyptus, geranium, jasmine, lavender, melissa, Roman chamomile, vetiver, and ylang-ylang
Life-Balancing Powder
These essential oils are from herbs long associated with balancing one’s life. When the chaos gets to be too much, sleep on this therapeutic powder made from essential oils that will have you waking up to the feeling that you can accomplish anything. The balancing properties of this blend include antidepressant, nervine, and euphoric functions that will have you feeling great and assist you in making wise decisions.
Yield: ¼ cup
Recipe
3 drops jasmine oil
3 drops clary sage oil
3 drops geranium oil
¼ cup cornstarch
4 drops vitamin E oil
Place the ingredients into a mason jar, stirring well with a whisk. Carefully poke holes into the lid, use this as a shaker, and shake the ingredients into pillowcases or under sheet areas as needed. You can get a piece of plastic wrap and place it over the jar and under the lid to keep powder from spilling out when not in use. Store in a glass jar or container with a tight-fitting lid in a cool, dark, and dry area for up to 3 months.
Balancing Inhaler
When your thoughts are in chaos, bring them back into balance by smelling this essential oil blend’s aroma. The oils in this recipe contain sedative, calming, and euphoric properties that will have you feeling like YOU again.
Yield: 1 application
Recipe
2 drops cedarwood oil
2 drops ylang-ylang oil
Choose your essential oil and apply to the palm of your hand, an oil inhaler, or a tissue. Bring the essential oils close to your nostrils and inhale the aroma deeply. You can cover one nostril at a time with your thumb and, if you prefer, alternate nostrils. This process sends the properties straight to your brain and the effects are immediate. You can complete this process 3–4 times daily.
Balancing Bath
Bath salts always seem to bring me back into balance, but when you add these essential oils, you will feel you can handle anything with a smile. The mood-lifting properties of these essential oils are euphoric, tonic, stimulating, and calming for life balance.
